Perfect Nature (2011/12)

There are many reasons in the origin of the cities, and most of them are directly related to fear. Humans grouped to live together in closed and protected spaces as a way give the group self-protection. Most important fears were related to other groups of humans, enemies, or nature, wild animals or tough environment.

But it’s not easy to live away from one of the most important element in earth, nature. Humans had always tried to replace nature in some way inside the cities. You can find it in a kind of human sized nature; plants and flowers at home, urban parks and gardens, or even zoos. But it’s also normal to use representations of nature as a substitute.

The city, the urban space, is the usual field of Jordi V. Pou photography works.  In this project he photographs these representations of nature, found in the city in many ways and situations, which are usual and common. When these situations are isolated by a photograph a kind of tragicomic character emerges. This is Perfect Nature.
